Hurricanes María & Irma — Red Cross Alliance
When Hurricane Irma (Cat 5, 185 mph+) and Hurricane María (the strongest storm to hit PR since 1928) hit Puerto Rico twelve days apart in September 2017, Caribbean Produce activated a multi-month logistics alliance with the American Red Cross. Regional Relief Centers were created across the island to be closer to affected communities — providing paid employment, food supplies and basic-need products. 3,256 routes delivered in six months · 65 daily routes · 10,000 daily products to elderly homes and food-insecure residents. The post-María alliance with the Red Cross would become a standing partnership reactivated in every future emergency.
